This is my first attempt at "blogging", although I have been writing fishing articles and reports for my fishing sites online since 1997. This site is a conglomeration of experiences, thoughts and ideas I have about life, my life and the lives around me.
First and foremost, I have a Biblical Worldview. I was raised in a Christian home, attending the First Presbyterian Church in Parsons, Kansas. Both Jerry and Carolyn (dad and mom) were good, upstanding citizens, church-goers, and it rubbed off on me. My dad, Jerry Dean Lilley, passed away on September 26, 2012 at the age of 77. He left a legacy, something I'll share at a later date.
Quickly--I grew up and graduated from Parsons SR. High School in 1976. Attended Christ for the Nations, Inst. in Dallas, Texas, a 2-year Bible school, graduating in 1978. I returned home and took classes at the junior college in Parsons, trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with my life. Then in August of 1979, my dad's office at LCMC in Parsons, at his arrangement I should add, I met Marsha Kay Woolery my best friend and future wife. We were married the following summer.
In 1981, Marsha and I moved to Springfield, MO to be close to Branson, a small tourist town 40 miles to the south. For 2 years we studied and watched the resort market on Lake Taneycomo, all the time praying about the right business to purchase. On May 15, 1983, we bought a small, fixer-upper fishing resort on the upper lake.
Marsha and I have 4 children, now adults. Sara was born in Springfield before making the move to Branson. Megan followed, then Caleb and finally Greg. We homeschooled all our kids plus my sister's 2 boys, Levi and Ryan. Sara, Megan, Caleb and Greg all attended and graduated from College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO. Sara is married to Josh Clark and have 2 kids, Jeriah and Serenity. Megan is married to Jimmy Cummings and they are expecting their first child. Caleb is newly married to Maggie (Kelly). Greg is a home owner here in Branson, single and working for the family business, Lilleys' Landing.
The rest of my history will come out in this blog, if you chose to follow each entry. I won't pretend to understand everything there is to God, life and people but I do have my foundation in God's Word, lead by His Spirit keeping a bent knee and open mind to the leading that comes from my personal relationship with Jesus. I've made many mistakes in this life I've been given by my creator but I press on living in the grace bestowed to me by Jesus and His work on the cross. My goal is to die daily to my flesh, to myself so that He can work through me to touch the life of people around me... man!! God has a lot of work to do in me!
