The Announcement

Mon, 01/21/2013 - 4:40pm -- lilley

Jimmy and Megan surprised us last summer with their announcement that Megan was with child.  Here is a sequence of images taken by Jimmy as he sprung the trap.

James Phillip Cummings (JP) is due April 8.

Hiding in plain sight?

The 72 that Jesus had sent out returned with stories of success.  Luke 10:21 says that Jesus "was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit and said, "O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you for hiding the truth from those who think themselves so wise and clever, and for revealing it to the child-like.  Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way."

Fishing Blog

Sat, 12/15/2012 - 12:44pm -- lilley

Some may be a little surprised I have been "blogging" about fishing much here on this blog site... since that's what I do for a living.  I posted a fishing report last month, one that I did for OzarkAnglers.Com and for our resort site, LilleysLanding.Com which I try to do each week but I decided I didn't want to just copy and paste the report.  Too much repetition.

True North

Fri, 12/14/2012 - 9:04am -- lilley

The outdoors has always been a place of reverence for many of us who fish and hunt and rightly so.  God created it for us.  It shows His handiwork, His character, His glory.  Even people who don't believe in God look at this world as a special place.

Genesis 2:15 says "God took man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."  That was his very first assignment.  He was told to name every creature, "and that would be their name."  Man has had a relationship with God's creation ever since.

The Lilley clan has big plans for the holiday season this year.  Caleb and his new bride Maggie are flying in from Boston next Wednesday for a 8-day stay.  We will all meet the following weekend at Jimmy and Megan's in Rogers, Arkansas including Josh, Sara, Jeriah and Serenity from Overland Park, aunt Lana, grandpa Dave and grandma Jean, aunt Lisa and her husband Paul and great grand daughter Justice.  And of course grandma Carolyn.

Bread Crumbs

Sat, 11/10/2012 - 2:10pm -- lilley

Matthew 15:21-28  (NIV)   Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.   A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”    Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”   He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”   The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.   He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”   “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”   Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.

Things in the Bible I don't get, Part One

Fri, 11/09/2012 - 9:17am -- lilley

Kind of a cheesy image but it comes close to my dilemma of belief about the account in Matthew 14 about Jesus, and Peter, walking on the sea.  In Matthew 14:24 is says the guys were having trouble "far away from land, for a strong wind had risen and they were fighting heavy waves."

Now this was at 3:00 a.m..  It was dark, no moonlight because we assume the strong winds were from a storm that had blown in.  They didn't have to check to see what the weather was going to be like on their trip across the large lake.  I've seen the Sea of Galilee and it is a very large lake by our standards.  But it's surrounded by rough terrain and mountains causing winds to pickup on a moments notice.
