Our trout have gotten a little fussy this past week. The main reason is the clarity of the water here on Lake Taneycomo. It's really, really clear! This isn't new although it is new for this time of summer. Normally the water clears in August and stays clear till Table Rock Lake turns over around Thanksgiving.
Last week, our area received quite a bit of rain, bringing up Table Rock Lake's levels above 917 feet prompting the US Army Corp of Engineers to run 2 to 3 units all this past week through Lake Taneycomo. With our water temperatures hovering around 42 degrees, this made trout fishing really tough, especially for people fishing off docks.
"Another day, another dollar." I believe that's just the opposite of what we believe here at the resort.
My thoughts now that Memorial Day Weekend has past and the summer season of 2014 has officially begun are:
Why do we still have do many projects to finish? I think it's because we've chosen to do so many improvements to the grounds, buildings, dock and swimming pool. Shall I list them?
1. Completely gut and remodel units #1 and #2. We replaced everything but the concrete slab and wood structure, although we did replace some of that too. We're pretty proud of what the guys did- great job and I think our guests will love it!
Generation patterns lately fairly consistent. Water has been off most mornings, giving fly fishermen a chance to wade below the dam. Generation has been starting mid-afternoon with two units running full until after dark. The one deviation has been when a half unit has been running 24 hours or all day and into the night. Unfortunately, there's no way to know when that will happen.
Met Phil Lilley at Tucker yesterday morning at 0600 for a day of relax fishing on beautiful Bull Shoals Lake. Just needed to get my engine recharged it has been just a wonderful start off the guide season here, but it was time for me to do a little R&R and just go fishing, so I took a couple of days off.
